On 28-29 November the 8th Annual Assembly of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum took place in Brussels. The event brought together over 200 representatives of the civil society organisations from the six Eastern Partnership countries and the EU, representatives of EaP governments, EU Member States, and EU Institutions.
The Assembly is a leading civil society event that has become a platform of interaction, providing networking as well as experience-sharing opportunities. This year the discussions, held under the title Building a Common Secure and Democratic Future, focused on the reform processes in the countries of the Eastern Partnership and how the civil society can further contribute to it.
The event gave the participants an opportunity to discuss the role of the Eastern Neighbourhood in the EU policies, the sectoral issues such as energy security and youth development, transparency of EU funding in the region, and preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit in 2017.
The Assembly elected a new Steering Committee which will serve as a governing body for the period of one year.
